When we are no longer able to change the situation – we are challenged to change ourselves.
• Therapy can be brief (3-6 sessions) or longer-term (Once a month for 6 months)
• A session is 50 minutes
If you would like to know more please contact me directly so we can talk briefly about your requirements and, if appropriate, arrange an initial meeting. This is without further commitment and is simply to give a sense of how we might work together and importantly, for you to see if I am the right person for you. Everything will be treated with the utmost confidence.
This initial meeting would be for 50 minutes.
If you decide you would like to continue then we would meet each week for 50 minutes on a mutually agreed day and time.
Stories shared during a therapy session will be treated as highly confidential. No information that was shared during a therapy session may be conveyed to a third party.
Confidentiality may be bridged (according to law) in the case where:
a) “Self-harm” (suicidal ideas or plans or actions) exist,
b) In the case where the “harm-of-others” is a cause for concern,
c) In case where sexual molestation and/or sexual abuse is suspected
Consultation with other professionals or family members:
If the therapist feels that it is necessary to consult with the client’s medical practitioner, school teachers or other family members, permission will be requested in writing, before so doing.
Payment is by cash or EFT only, either before or on the day of the appointment. If an EFT was done, it is the client’s responsibility to SMS proof of payment to the therapist’s cell phone number (082-770-8135) or to bring proof of payment to the session.
You will receive a detailed invoice after each session which you may submit to your medical aid for reimbursement.
The amount refunded will depend on your medical aid and plan.
Kindly enquire with your medical aid for this information.
General tariff for a single session of 50 minutes is R600.00.
(Fees for 2020)
Cancellation of a session must be done 24 hours before the session otherwise you will be billed for that time.
This is to allow sufficient time to schedule an appointment for another person who might be in need of counselling.
My practice does NOT provide custody, criminal or psychological assessments.
I work with a wide spectrum of mental health concerns ranging from managing everyday stress and anxiety to more serious life difficulties.
My areas of work include:
• Parent education in terms of how to deal with children’s behaviour
• Relationships and interpersonal difficulties
• Stress management
• Personal growth/development
• General life transitions and life crisis’s (e.g. becoming a parent, leaving home, divorce, marital adaption process, changing jobs, changes in health, loss of a loved one, etc.)
• Acute and chronic illness
• Terminal illness, death and bereavement
All human beings aspire to live happy, successful lives, but sometimes we are faced with very difficult situations that leave us tired, stressed, hopeless and worried, unable to live our life as we planned.
The therapy relationship creates a safe space for the client where he/she can enter and NOT be judged.
It is a safe environment where the client is free to explore his own life through means of conversation and/or movement, music and art (e.g. neurological repatterning). The therapist will help the client to tell his/her story through means of specific therapeutic techniques.
In order for the client to be able to trust the therapist with his / her life story, it is important for the client to see the therapist at least once a week for three weeks and thereafter sessions can be arranged according to the need of the client.
The therapist will normally suggest some “homework” e.g. things to think or write about to ensure continuity until the next session. The “homework” will assist the client in dealing with the issue at hand.
